The School is committed to providing academic programmes that integrate university and clinical based study to enable health care professions of the future to have a high intellectual and clinical ability. A collaboration with the Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Group has been established; QMU will deliver a one week, residential course each summer open to Dietetics graduates, enabling participants to exit with 15 M level credits.
Role Purpose
To provide a high quality academic administrative support to the PEN summer course offered by the School, in conjunction with the PEN Group.
You will work with the Academic Link Person and with the designated contact at PEN in order to provide administrative support to the delivery of this course. Based primarily in the School Office (a proportion of home working may be agreed) you will work alongside the School Office Team to improve service levels, and to enable academic resources in particular to be focused on the delivery of learning and teaching, research and consultancy activities.
Principal duties or Key objectives
Provide an efficient and effective administration service to academic staff enabling academic resources to be focused on the delivery of learning and teaching, research and consultancy activities
Ensure that the calendar of activities outlined in the summary of duties document (attached) are addressed in an efficient and timely fashion, e.g:
- submit course advert, process course applications, make residential bookings; and coordinate course evaluations;
-ensure the logistics of the teaching of the module are organised, such as room and equipment booking where appropriate and liaising with guest and subject specific lecturers as necessary;
-organise and provide administrative support for meetings attended by PEN on-site (such room booking and accommodation for visiting tutors)
-banking of cheques into the PEN bank account
Organise the submission of student assignments and distribute to academic staff; ultimately preparing the submission of marks to Boards of Examiners for those students wishing to exit with credit.
Any other appropriate tasks as advised by the PEN Project Manager, or School Manager.
Person Specification - Essential
Demonstrable track record in administration.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Organisation skills together with the ability to manage conflicting priorities often within tight timescales.
Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Access) and Microsoft Outlook.
An ability to establish working relationships with students, academic staff and managers.
Able to self-start, but to also to contribute effectively as part of a team.
