The School is committed to providing academic programmes that integrate university and clinical based study to enable health care professions of the future to have a high intellectual and clinical ability. The School with its breadth of health care professional programmes including; Podiatry, Radiography, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Audiology, Dietetics Nutrition and Biological Sciences and Nursing, is in a unique position to develop opportunities for multi-professional and inter-disciplinary learning and teaching and research.
Role Purpose
To provide a high quality academic administrative support to the Inter-Professional Education project within the School.
You will work with staff in the School of Health Sciences to support the implementation of the multidisciplinary curriculum particularly in the professional health care courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Based in the School Office you will work alongside the School Office Team to improve service levels, and to enable academic resources in particular to be focused on the delivery of learning and teaching, research and consultancy activities.
Principal duties or Key objectives
Support the implementation of the inter-professional education strand in the professional health care courses at both undergraduate level and to support the development of IPE in Postgraduate programmes.
Ensure the logistics of the teaching of the strand are organised including the booking of rooms, ensuring learning packs are collated and distributed and that the provision runs smoothly.
Provide an efficient and effective administration service to academic staff enabling academic resources to be focused on the delivery of learning and teaching, research and consultancy activities
Organise students into IPE groups and monitor these arrangements
Liaise with academic staff to input resource material into Web CT.
Organise the submission of student assignments and distribute to academic staff.
Liaise with Library staff re resources for IPE.
In conjunction with academic staff, collate and compile IPE Handbooks, issue to students as appropriate in line with agreed procedures maintaining an accurate records of material issued in accordance with agreed policy.
Organise and provide administrative support for IPE meetings.
Person Specification - Essential
Demonstrable track record in administration.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Organisation skills together with the ability to manage conflicting priorities often within tight timescales.
Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Access) and Microsoft Outlook.
An ability to establish working relationships with students, academic staff and managers.
Able to self-start, but to also to contribute effectively as part of a team.
