Subject/Centre Specific Information
The Division sits within the School of Health Sciences and one of the goals of the School is to manage to deliver high quality learning and teaching, research, knowledge exchange, consultancy and commercialisation activities. The Division has a breadth of professional programmes such as Therapeutic and Diagnostic Radiography, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Nutrition and Dietetics and Community and public Health and as such is in a unique position to develop opportunities for multi-professional and inter-disciplinary learning and teaching and research.
A new Postgraduate Framework has been approved and this post is to specifically support the initial setting up and delivery of the e-learning within the pathways of the Framework. The post holder, working with module teams will develop electronic processes and resources for teaching this exciting postgraduate curriculum.
Additionally the role holder will advise and support the learning and development of Division staff in the area of digital learning technologies and its translation into specific on line experiences for student from a variety of disciplines and background.
Role Purpose
- Plan and develop e-learning activities and processes for the Framework
- Contribute to Framework development, quality assurance and review
- Undertake relevant roles within the Framework, Division and School as required
- Engage in scholarship/research/knowledge exchange activity as appropriate
- To take independent/collaborative decisions as appropriate
- Use initiative, experience and knowledge to solve problems
- As an active member of the Framework and wider Division team contributing to building team morale and to be supportive and encouraging of others
- Work collaboratively within the Division and School as appropriate
Principal duties or Key objectives
1. Will provide the subject matter expertise to tutors working in the Framework and across the Division for all learning and teaching technological requests and queries
2. Create, update and amend existing e-learning content when required
3. Keep up-to-date with relevant developments in learning technologies in Higher Education and promote and persuade Head of Division/School decision makers on Framework relevant projects
4. Participate in networks within the institution, such as the IT team, or externally if required
5. Design and implement efficient processes to optimise the user experience of teaching and learning suite of applications
6. Design and deliver training and associated resources in the use of the VLE and associated teaching and learning technologies
7. Contribute to the running of the Division as appropriately directed by the Head of Division
Person Specification - Essential
A BSc in a relevant field
A sound understanding of learning methodologies
Experience of developing technology in education, including e-learning provision and the development of e-learning materials
Demonstrable success in providing support and administration functions for a VLE
Experience of using specialist software tools to develop digital learning materials and assessment information e.g. Pebblepad, Turnitin, Blackboard Learn, Blackboard Collaborate
Experience of delivering face-to-face and digital based training
Experience of multi-disciplinary team working and of leadership
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proven decision-making abilities, organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines

Knowledge of the Health and Social care landscape
Have or be working towards a qualification in learning and teaching
Experience of promoting and delivering innovative digital products in Learning & Technology in a University
A relevant postgraduate degree
