Queen Margaret University, Musselburgh Role Purpose
The role holder will provide first-line services to Learning Resource Centre users. This will include offering IT application and basic network support, advice and support on the use of LRC services and resources, both on campus and remotely.
Principal duties or Key objectives
To provide excellent customer care
Provide an effective, accurate, user-friendly service to ensure optimum access to and use of LRC resources for all users
Provide first-line advice to LRC users in the location and use of LRC resources, equipment and facilities to ensure optimum user access to the full range of resources. Refer users to specialist Library or Information Technology Services colleagues as required
Provide one to one IT application support to students and staff using the LRC and maintain records of support provided
Provide effective, accurate and user-friendly support in other Library services, for example: supporting the work of the liaison services team
Undertake basic maintenance of equipment such as multi-function devices and AV equipment to ensure optimal operational efficiency of facilities
Undertake routine shelving and stock maintenance accurately and speedily, to ensure availability of LRC resources
Manage security gate incidents firmly but diplomatically to maintain the security of LRC resources
Participate in team meetings, Performance Enhancement Reviews and contribute ideas for Service Desk development to support the Learning Services mission and goals and the implementation of the Learning Services Operational PlanPerson Specification - Essential
Good educational background with a minimum of three Highers or equivalent
European Computer Driving Licence qualification or equivalent experience
Ability to work as a member of a team
Ability to work unsupervised
Experience of working in a customer-focussed environment
High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
Well motivated, with the flexibility and adaptability to operate effectively in a fast-changing environment
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent written and spoken communication skills both face-to-face and in an electronic environment
