Role Purpose
In support of the University's Student Experience Strategy and International Strategy, contribute to the recruitment and retention of international students by providing pre-sessional English courses for targeted students.
Key Result Areas
- Teach academic/language skills to groups of pre-sessional students
- Provide language/academic writing support to individual international students
- Develop English for Academic Purposes guidance materials
- Maintain records of contact with students and collect feedback on support provided to continuously improve the effectiveness of provision
- Report on outcomes of provision
- Perform any other duties which might be requested from time to time by the line manager
Person Specification - Essential
Educated to degree level
Experience of teaching English for Academic Purposes at Higher Education level
Experience of working with students from a range of countries
Experience of developing educational materials for English for Academic Purposes
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of individuals and groups
Excellent organisation skills, with the ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure and deliver on multiple agenda
Ability to work autonomously within a constantly changing and often pressured environment
Proactive and able to take responsibility for this area of work and to display initiative in solving problems
