Key responsibilities
The role holder is responsible for the implementation andmaintenance of processes to support open access to research publications andresearch data at the University.
The role holder will provide support to users via email,telephone and face to face training where appropriate.
The role holder will also support increased activity via the'Green' open access option of deposit of research publications into eResearch,and will participate in ongoing advocacy and reporting measures around thisactivity.
Key objectives
Further develop the institutional repositories to ensurecompliance with funder requirements.
Raise internal awareness QMU's RDM policy and procedures andgood practice with regards to all aspects of research data management andfunder and stakeholder expectations.
Lead the advocacy of both eResearch and eData within theinstitution.
Contribute to the on-going development of the University'sOpen Access procedures and policies, including compliance with funderrequirements.
Develop new web pages (via website and intranet) to coverresearch support services including links to relevant external websites.
Provide monitoring and compliance reporting on OA and usagestatistics that meet internal and external requirements.
Provide research data management planning assistance andguidance to Principal Investigators and example data management plans and texton the RDM intranet site
Liaise with Research Centres and Schools providinginformation on aspects of research. Liaise with the Head of Research andKnowledge Exchange Unit to further develop OA understanding across theinstitution.
Attend research related university committees on a regularbasis and present papers as required.
Provide update sessions for researchers in relevant areas.
Develop and maintain an understanding of the informationenvironment for repositories, along with the developments in copyright,publishing and external reporting requirements for higher education andlibraries. To develop links as appropriate with other libraries andprofessional groups.
Person Specification- Essential
Professionallibrary qualification (eg Honours degree or Honours degree + post-graduatelibrary qualification)
Up-to-date knowledge of research support services
Comprehensive knowledge of Open Access publishing, includingknowledge of publisher APC practices and offers
Detailed knowledge of Open Access regulations andrequirements as related to participation in the next REF (or equivalencies
Experience in an academic library environment
Experience of delivering training to a wide variety ofrecipients
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

Excellent IT skills and familiarity with standard ITapplications
